Motoz off road tyre innovation is about developing tyres that work well off road that don't wear out too quickly. Motoz tyres give great traciton, long wear life and won't let you down when the going gets tough.
Motoz tyres are very different.
The main difference between Motoz tyres and the rest is obvious. Just look at them. For almost three decades, off road tyres have changed very little. Without exception (that we can see) the tread blocks have been arranged to throw the terrain out the back, and in several cases conventional tread block placement guides the terrain under the centre of the tyre before throwing it out the back. This is a good concept for boat propellers or trench diggers, but not the best solution for motorcycle tyres engaging the terrain to create traction.
Terrapactor
Motoz tyres work on a unique concept called "Terrapactor®" (terrain compactor), which uses the tread block design and placement to help compact, compress or wedge the terrain creating extra traction, drive and lift. This unique concept coupled with the use of superior rubber quality works to lessen the impact on the terrain and provide extra traction.
The Pure Substance of Traction
A major difference between Motoz tyres and the rest is rubber quality. Motoz tyres are made with natural rubber, something unheard of these days due to the high cost involved. Nothing else provides the same elasticity, reflex and deflection for the best traction as natural rubber - nothing else performs like the pure substance of traction. Every one of Motoz tyres is what others might call "special race compound" reserved for their race teams.
Build Quality
Another major difference with Motoz tyres is their heavy duty case construction. Motoz use dense weave ply cord so greater strength and higher ply rating is achieved with less ply layers. We then double up on the side walls for maximum strength, and add a vertical reinforcement section between the sidewall layers for greater sidewall strength. The carcass is protected by a thick layer of rubber under the tread and around the sidewalls to help minimise punctures. This layer also acts like a cushion zone and allows a small amount of flex under the tread blocks to aid reflex traction and reduce chunk off, increasing tyre life. It also acts as a heat sink to help cool the tyre in extreme conditions. The sidewalls and rim area are specially designed to protect the rim, but also to minimise "pinch flats".
Quick Fitting and Service Times
If you do happen to have a puncture you will notice that Motoz tyres are quite easy to get on and off the rim. Motoz have done this intentionally to reduce service downtime during a race or out in the bush. Why? Because seconds wasted trying to get a tight tyre back onto the rim can cost you a win. If you have experienced this frustration, you will know why they have gone to the effort of making their tyres easy to get on and off the rim.
Crown Radius Section - Tailor Made to each Tyre - Matched to the Application.
Another big difference is Motoz's section designs. When they are thinking about a tyre section design, they are really thinking about specific bikes, and the kinds of terrain and application they would be used in, and by whom. Motoz design each tyre in each size specifically, not one design spread across a size range.
Explained simply, Motoz may have different section designs for the same size tyre (EG our 110/100-18 Tractionator Enduro is not the same as their 110/100-18 XCircuit) by using a unique Crown Radius Section. For simplicity we group them into three descriptions (pointed, round, flat) but they are all unique.
Motoz have developed a unique size chart to give the rider more information about each tyre so a more informed and specific choice can be made for the terrain/track application or the rider's particular style, and avoid mis-match.
Why bother? Motoz are very determined to make each tyre the best, and take the art of off road tyres to a much higher level. |
