MITAKA
have the worlds' biggest range of billet clutch baskets
!
These
MX baskets are all made from 7075 T6 alloy.
Some
important points of Mitaka Billet Clutch baskets:
The integrity of any manufactured product starts with the
material from which it is produced. Mitaka clutch baskets
are manufactured from the hardest commercially available Aluminium
alloy, 7075 T6. The Tensile Strength of this material and
it's hardness are greater than that of Mild Steel. Typical
comparison figures for stock basket material, Mild Steel &
Mitaka basket material are shown below.
It is noteworthy also that this is a through hardness and
is further enhanced by hard anodising.

Slavish copying of the stock
item in a higher strength material would negate much of the
advantage conferred by the better material. Mitaka baskets
take full advantage of the high tensile strength of the extruded,
heat treated billets to reduce sections, resulting in lower
weights, whilst increasing the strength of this component,
the aim of all good racing designs! As an example the current
CR250 basket is 30% lighter than the stock item.
Mitaka's C.N.C. manufacturing facility is dedicated to the
production of clutch baskets. The full range is stocked and
new models can be produced in quantity in days. As of June
1999 more than 40 designs are stocked. These cover almost
every model year for the following machines:
CR80 CR125 CR250 CR500
KX60 KX80 KX125 KX250
RM80 RM125 RM250 HUSKY125/250
YZ80 YZ125 YZ250 KTM250
Our commitment to clutch basket production is total and we
are able to produce batches of 10 baskets ( or even less )
to special order at no extra cost. A number of baskets have
been produced oversize to accept an extra plate.
Mitaka clutch baskets are supplied with socket head screws
to simplify fitting. No rivetting is required, so reducing
the risk of damage during assembly.
